Friday, July 3

We woke up and it was brighter out. Not sunny, but brighter. So we decided to work outside.

Down to the cove we went. Brenda started cutting grass using the push mower while I went to the beach and checked out the kayak and the dingy. Everything was fine. I put another metal ring on the dingy so it can be secured better. One of these days we’ll have enough time to go exploring in the dingy and the kayak.

When Brenda took a break I took over. We work well together. I have a heightened appreciation of her tenacity and drive. She doesn’t stop until the job is done. While we were working I walked back to the campsite area and saw a small owl sitting on a rock. This little guy was only about eight inches tall. We looked at each other for about ten seconds then I made a move to go get Brenda. When I moved, so did the owl.

We finished mowing both the cove and the camping area. Brenda cleaned the restroom and I weed whacked. Brenda then painted some things in the engine house. During the few hours we were mowing it got warm and we even saw the sun. It got warm and I ended up in T shirt and shorts. This didn’t last long.

When we returned to the house the fog was rolling in again, although it was still comfortable outside. I wonder if we will see any fireworks tomorrow.

When I was running the tram to the top the cable on one of the drums came off the spool. Dave warned me that might happen. It took me the better part of an hour to manually turn the spool and get it straightened out, but all is well now.
